Born to Compete

Cowbridge runs several competitive teams and play in the South Wales Premier League. The First team play in Premier division two whilst the Second team play in the Premier East Division.

Senior Team Captain's

Chris Willey

Initially I started off as an off-spinner within the 1st XI but am now a middle order batsman. I was honoured to be asked to captain the 1st XI in 2016 and have done since, gaining promotion to the South Wales Premier League in 2019. I hope to be able to continue to develop the club on the field nurturing our bright youngsters and pushing on for further honours, by reaching Prem 1.

I have been involved with Cowbridge cricket since I moved to the area aged 10 years old and was introduced to the game, approximately 25 years ago. I started in the under 11s alongside a good friend Tom Merilaht who I still play with today.

I was honoured to be asked to captain the 1st XI in 2016 and have done since, gaining promotion to the South Wales Premier League in 2019. I hope to be able to continue to develop the club on the field nurturing our bright youngsters and pushing on for further honours, by reaching Prem 1.

Hugh Williams

Hugh has been involved with the Cricket Club since 1970. A level 2 coach who coached the club's U15' s team from 1990 winning the Cardiff and Vale league 3 times. Since retirement in 2008 Hugh, has devoted his time to coaching U9's to U13 's. Enjoys all sports but especially golf. A staunch supporter of Glamorgan CC.

I started my cricket career when I joined Cowbridge at the age of 12. I started playing in the u13s and have played for Cowbridge ever since, representing the 1XI, 2XI and T20 sides.

I captained the T20 side in 2019 to cup victory and was honored to be appointed 2XI captain the same year.

My aim has been to develop youngsters coming through the system and promote a winning mentality, preparing them to represent the 1XI in the years to come.

Andrew was appointed as Junior Chairman in 2019. His 24 years of leadership experience in elite sport and performance has helped the club to grow significantly. He enjoys developing young athletes and performance programmes. His son plays for Cowbridge and his favourite cricketer ever is Brian Lara.

Jack Cropper

T20 Captain

I’ve played for Cowbridge since 2017 and I’m now the T20 captain and 1st XI player. Jack not just by name, but of all trades within the team having batted, bowled & kept wicket at various stages.
I have coached u11’s, 13’s & 15’s during my time at the club. I focus on developing young cricketers holistically through all disciplines of the game as well as the tactical side creating ‘cricketing brains’.
